Imperial Palace Water Park, Mactan

As expensive as it was, boyfie and I decided to give day-use at Imperial Palace Waterpark and Resort a go. For P1500 per person, every cent was worth it.

Imperial Palace in Mactan is a newly-opened waterpark/theme park and resort that is korean-owned. It was designed by engineers who created famous theme parks abroad to be able to give us, Cebuanos, a taste of thrill, adventure and fun. Check out our pics to see just how much adventure we had.

With a map as guide, we were planning to do it one numbered area (on the map) at a time to be able to visit all places but ended up doing these instead:

Visit 1: Island Pool – a uniquely designed pool that’s a sparkling blue under the sun’s heat greets you upon your way to the waterpark proper. We just couldn’t help but take a photo.

Visit 2: Kiddie Pool – Beautifully crafted and designed specifically for the kids. Kids will have the time of their lives – we sure did!

Visit 3: The Amazon River – Surrounding the kiddie pool and beach pool is the amazon river that lets you relax or play as you glide with the water’s current. The current takes you around the entire water park. This is where we relaxed and watched the day go by. This also served as our exercise as we swam against the current, thinking we’ve gone far enough only to find out that we haven’t moved an inch. hahaha

Visit 4: The slides – 3 super fun slides that will definitely keep you coming for more.

  • White Slide - the less-daring of the 3 and probably the slowest of them all. For the weak-hearted and those scared, this slide is nice for a first-try. It eases you out of your fear in preparation for the other slides. It worked for me. ;)
  • Green Slide – Girlfie’s fave! :) This is also called the blind slide because of its all-covered feature. You see absolutely nothing except for the lines of color that greet you upon your descent. After which, there’s only darkness. The thrill and excitement is heightened by the fact that as you slide and glide, you don’t know where you’re heading and you don’t know when it’s going to end. This slide gives meaning to the saying: “The white light at the end of the tunnel” – letting you know you’ve finally reached your destination.
  • The Tornado – Boyfie’s fave! :) This slide spins you round and round like a tornado -hence the name. The slide downwards is a very fast and thrilling one. The spinning is not as fast but completely fun. The drop is another thing. You have to maneuver yourself to make sure your feet go first upon dropping to a pool, 6-feet in depth. For the adventure-seekers, this one’s a must-try.

Visit 5: Lunch Lunch Lunch – This was another one of our fave parts. A buffet of different foods hailing from different cuisines awaits you. Filipino food, Japanese food, Italian food, Korean food and a whole place all for desserts! It was lunch heaven for us. We tried out every dessert there is but ended up leaving all of them after a bite or two. Some were just too weird for our taste. hehe

We spent the day wading in the Amazon river, let out the child in us as we enjoyed the kiddie pool and dared to go give the slides more than 1 try. The rain and dark clouds threatened to ruin the day for us but luckily, they didn’t stay for long. However, we weren’t able to visit the remaining numbered areas on the map that we haven’t gone to. Oh well, there’s always a next time. <insert gasp and faint here>

As far as using the water park was concerned, we enjoyed every facility to our heart’s content. What remained to be a couple of minutes before dark was spent clicking and posing.

The wait for something like this to open in Cebu was worth it. Imperial Palace Resort. It won’t disappoint you.
