It has been ages since we last updated our blog and I know the posts are oh-so-random with no explanations or whatsoever. Our deepest apologies as we got caught up in everything that happened in 2011. Here goes:

The Plan:

Boyfie and I had long been planning to move out of Cebu and try our luck in a foreign place. The place was Singapore. The target date was January 2012.

The Blessing:

Much to our surprise, our friend Ria offered Boyfie a job in October 2010 and after a couple of conversations with the boss, a job was offered to me as well. It was exactly what we were looking for. It was the perfect push that we needed.

The Great Move:

With less than 2 weeks to settle everything, Boyfie left and 2 weeks after that, I dropped everything that I had in Cebu and followed suit.

The Adjustment & Poverty Period:

We had a rough but fun start. We needed to adjust to the place,people,work and food Plus we didn’t have enough money to last until our very first paycheck so we had to seriously cut back on everything.

The Challenge:

The work passes needed in Singapore was by far the toughest challenge we’ve ever had to endure. We were having some problems with the Boyf’s pass so we had to leave our company to search for a new one in hopes of getting the passes approved.

I got my pass approved in December but Boyfie’s pass got stuck for 6 months. He needed to go back home while I had to brave working and living in Singapore alone. Up until now, I don’t know how I survived.

The LDR Stage:

Boyfie and I had to go through the long-distance relationship which quite frankly is very, very difficult. It takes a whole lot to be able to pull through. A salute to all those who made it!

Luckily for us, we only had to work at it for 6 months. In June, the boyf was finally able to work here and our new life in the new city began.

The Life in the New City:

We’ve adjusted well with the food, people and environment but have yet to be strong enough to adapt to the crazy weather here. We’re slowly rebuilding our world around this fast-paced city and so far it has been great – not all happy moments but still, great.

Join us as we venture out in this diverse city with so much to see, eat and do.

A Wacky Start to a New Year — We know this will be a great year if and only if we wear this effin-harry-potter-looking-glasses-with-fake-mustache! Haha

Girlfie and I celebrated our 30th Monthsary last Tuesday (Oct 18). Japanese cuisine for dinner (foodcourt FTW!) and yogurt at J.CO.

Time flies really fast and it’s been a wonderful adventure! I love you so much nyor. (hug)

Its now my turn to cook in our house and I’ve been wanting to try any soup dish. And since we have enough stocks of pork in our fridge I better prepare Pork Sinigang (a sour soup). Well, I’m not a masterchef or some sort, but amazingly it turned out well.

Cooking time: 45mins

Here are the ingredients:

• Pork
• Sinigang Seasoning Mix
• Spinach a.k.a Kangkong
• Some leafy veg
• Tomato
• Potato
• Onion bulb
• Fish sauce
• Salt
• Black pepper
• 1 liter water

Steps:

1. On a boiling water, add potato, pork, salt (remove white particles from pork – tip c/o girlfie)
2. When the pork is tender, add Sinigang Mix and all ingredients except the green veg. Let it cook for 10-15mins
3. Lastly, add the veg and let it cook for another 15mins
4. Voila!

It would’ve tasted even better if you add:

• Gabi (to thicken the soup)
• Green chilli (obviously to add spice)
• Tamarind (to make your eyelids close even more)
• Okra
• Eggplant

Hi nyor, this is the first song I (randomly) played today at work and remembered our singing contest days at some karaoke bars and at home. I just miss being with you.

Tuesday… and it’s a holiday here in Singapore to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa. We went shopping for shoes and ended up paying for clothes. Great! Had a full meal and some dessert too.
