Anniv Celeb Part 1: Caubian Island

Today, we turn 1. Today, we venture out into the unknown and discover things that are new to both of us.

Today is a celebration of firsts.

THE TRANSPORTATION:

The packages on Island hopping we saw online were too expensive because there were only two of us so we searched for other options. We ended up going to the port beside Hilton instead and looked for available bancas (a small motorized boat) for rent.

Eris is a banca-renting company owned by Deding Eris. Our haggling powers worked because we were able to bring the price down to PHP2,200 for a whole day use.

If you want to rent a banca, it’s best to go for those who have companies because they can send out rescues if needed. This way, you are also assured of your trip.

THE ISLAND:

We wanted to spend some quality time by the beach and bask in the sun’s heat as we enjoy the crystal clear waters. An officemate of mine showed me a picture of Caubian Island and I was instantly hooked.

Caubian Island is a 45-1 hour trip from Mactan and is located off the coasts of Olango. It consists of two islands: Caubian “dako” and “gamay” as locals call it. True to its name, “gamay” (big) is a tiny island that was overcrowded with too many houses. “Dako” (big) however, was the total opposite.

It’s an almost inhabited island save for the caretakers and one family dwelling on the place. A korean company is opening up a resort in the area and is slowly developing the place.

The island seems to be sitting on top of a big rock because rock cliffs surround the edges of the island.

On the other side of it, paradise awaits you. The vast sea with crystal clear waters is all yours for the taking.

Ponies at Caubian! You can ride them for free too!

Before we began to explore and bask in the sun’s heat, we did an exchange of gifts first because we couldn’t contain the excitement..(happy)

Check out our similar wrappers..and we didn’t even buy them together!hehe

Our very own Gorillapod bought by Boyfie. Taking pictures during our adventures has just been made easier!:)

Boyfie’s new shirt

My very own snorkel set for all our water adventures..(poolparty)

Happy with our gifts..(happy)

The beach couldn’t wait. We had to go in and enjoy the cool waters beneath the sun’s heat.

The island right across is Caubian “gamay”. It’s that small yet is home to a lot of people. It’s one crowded island.

We love the beach..lalalala

The rocks come in handy as shelters from the scorchin’ heat of the sun..hehe

We had left-over lechon and lechon manok for lunch..simple yet delish..(happy)

We rested on the colorful hammock and played with the camera

Just as we were about to go swimming again, Caubian’s beautiful ponies went strolling and the caretaker offered to let us ride the ponies. They were beautiful, elegant, graceful and they such perfect strides. They have to be one of earth’s most amazing creatures.

I had to climb up a table to be able to ride the pony because it was too tall for me. (wasntme)

Meet Cynthia and daughter ( I forgot the name)

Yes, we just took “cheesy” to the next level..hahaha

If you walk around the island, you will discover a part that is abundant with white sand. The sand beneath your feet and the cold waters of the sea in sweet contrast to the scorching heat of the sun. It was bliss.

Exploring the island..

With Caubian “gamay” behind us. The island was so near, we wanted to swim it..but we didn’t.

The sand was white and soft. It was perfect. :)

Every cell in me loves the beach (despite the heat)

Caubian is definitely a must-see place. This is the best time to go before the place becomes fully developed and too commercialized.

Current entrance fee is at PHP300 per person inclusive of the use of the cottages, beach volleyball, lifebuoys and a chance to ride their beautiful ponies.

Our anniversary celebration didn’t end there..Up  next? Boyfie and Girlfie goes swimming with the fishes..(happy)
